During the Pandemic, we felt it was necessary to offer more local help, and so we started to work with the Brighton based charity Together Co, which aims to combat loneliness through a befriending scheme and social prescribing.
We have been supporting the Brighton charity Together Co for a few years now. Our funding is used specifically for a "Befriending Socials" scheme. Below is from the report we received from Together co, and gives a flavour of how our funding is used and the impact it has.
"We are grateful to Humanity at Heart for funding our Befriending Socials which are a vital aspect of our Befriending service.
Our socials are on-going and are a huge success of our organisation, thanks to funding from Humanity at Heart. We continue to host 3 socials across the city every month for people experiencing loneliness and social isolation.
This year we were able to offer an opportunity for people to gather with friends regularly at no cost to them. Ages of attendees range between 50-94. These offerings also impact secondary beneficiaries, as a lot of the people we support have carers and volunteers who also come along to support at the socials, chatting to attendees and helping on the Community Bus.Funding from Humanity at Heart supports us in providing free community transport, activities and educational/informative talks from other community organisations, as well as fun and engaging activities to increase positive mood and well-being. This has included laughing yoga, arts and crafts, quizzes and bingo."
